From pencils and paper to lunch boxes and backpacks, the back-to-school list has started! Is an orthodontic visit also on your child’s back-to-school checklist this year? If it’s not and your child is age seven and up, you may want to add it!

Your child doesn’t need to be a pre-teen to benefit from an orthodontist visit. There are also no referrals required to come in for a check-up! In fact, the American Association of Orthodontists recommends an orthodontic checkup, no later than the age of seven.

By the age of seven, your child will likely have a mix of adult and baby teeth. Enough of your child’s adult teeth will have come in that we can identify whether there is a risk of overcrowding, protruding or misaligned teeth. At this stage, sometimes an early intervention can address specific issues before they become bigger problems.

Contact us at Unionville Orthodontics in Markham for your child’s back to school orthodontic checkup! We want to see happy and healthy smiles go back to school and are proud to help out.
